Cable Management in Petrochemical Plants: Trays, Glands, and Fire Stops

Cable failures cause 23% of unplanned petrochemical shutdowns. Get the basics right.

Specify hot-dip galvanized or GRP trays sized with 40% spare capacity. Use Ex-d glands certified IECEx for Zone 1/2.

Penetrations between fire zones must be sealed with certified fire stops (e.g., PYRO-SAFE FlammoBox). Document every penetration with a unique ID for inspection traceability.

Routine thermography every six months catches loose terminations long before insulation fails.
